ICBL hosted a Book Fair on Thursday, March 20, 2025, where the Company donated over two thousand books to primary schools across Barbados.
The book project represents another phase of the annual ICBL Spelling Bee competition, the cornerstone of the Company's corporate social responsibility. ICBL organized a Book Drive last November in association with Starcom Network. Barbadians were encouraged to donate books for children between the ages of four and twelve. They responded overwhelmingly, dropping off books at the numerous drop-off points facilitated by many of the key partners in the ICBL Junior Spelling Bee competition.
Thirty teachers from twenty schools attended the Book Fair, getting the opportunity to choose at least 84 books per school.
Teachers attending the Book Fair expressed gratitude to ICBL for providing the opportunity to secure books for their libraries and book clubs. They spoke highly of the good condition of the books as the wide variety on display.
ICBL has been on a mission to raise the literacy level in Barbados, get children to read more, and recognize the value and joy of reading. This year will mark the 6th anniversary of the ICBL National Junior Spelling Bee Competition, with the preliminary rounds being staged on October 17 and the Finals on November 14, 2025.
