Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer
Geoff has built his career in financial services by combining his knowledge of risk and return with a passion for finding creative solutions. Having started his career as a bank teller, Geoff understands the needs of clients, employees and key stakeholders from the ground up. He is well regarded for creating an environment of teamwork and open communications – using strategies that have resulted in improved profits and strong employee engagement.
Geoff joined ICBL as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer on January 15, 2018. In this role, he leads Barbados’ largest general insurance company, also a growing provider of health and life insurance. Under his leadership, ICBL is seeking opportunities to expand, to strengthen relationships with its clients, and to provide a challenging and rewarding environment for its employees.
Prior to joining ICBL, Geoff spent over 25 years in the financial services industry, including leadership roles in the core areas of client relationship management and risk management. He assumed progressively senior positions as a corporate banker with leading Canadian banks, culminating in an executive posting as the head of a significant and profitable commercial banking team. He transitioned to Barbados in 2012 as the Chief Risk Officer at a leading Caribbean commercial bank, where he successfully led several change initiatives which strengthened the risk culture and alignment with business strategies.
Geoff has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto, and an M.B.A. from McGill University and Manchester Business School. He served as a Director on the board of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto from 2007 to 2012, where he also served on the Finance and Governance Committees.
Goulbourne joined the company as Deputy Chief Executive Officer on January 3, 2012. He has over 25 years experience in general insurance having worked in underwriting, claims and reinsurance.
Prior to joining the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Limited (ICBL) he held the position of Vice President - Underwriting & Claims from June 2009 with BF&M Limited (Bermuda). He also held senior management positions in Barbados with other insurance entities; the most recent of which was Senior Vice President - Insurance Operations.
He is a Chartered Insurer and holds Fellowship designations from the Chartered Insurance Institute of the UK (FCII), Life Management Institute (FLMI) and the Financial Services Institute (FFSI) along with Associate designations in Reinsurance from the Insurance Institute of America, and in Customer Service from the Life Offices Management Association. He is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators (ACIS) (UK). He also holds a Masters in Business Administration (Strategic Planning) from Edinburgh Business School.
Goulbourne is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist. His hobbies include reading and gardening. He is married and has two children.
Senior Vice President and Head of Legal, Compliance and Secretariat
Valentina holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL B) (1986) with upper second-class honours and a Master of Laws (LL M) (1995) from the University of the West Indies. She also holds the Legal Education Certificate (LEC) (1988) from the Hugh Wooding Law School, Trinidad & Tobago and a Diploma in Ocean Law & Policy (1996) from the Rhodes Academy of Oceans Law and Policy in association with the University of Virginia School of Law. In October 1988 she was called to the Barbados Bar.
Prior to joining ICBL she served as Principal Crown Counsel in the Attorney General Chambers of Barbados for twelve years and worked in private practice. Valentina is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (2006) of Canada. She has also attended and received two Certificates following her participation in the Alternate Dispute Resolution and the Advanced Alternate Dispute Resolution workshops co-sponsored by Stitt Feld Handy Group and the University of Windsor, Faculty of Law (Canada).
Senior Vice President and Head of Life Division
Henry joined the ICBL on 1st November 2012 following an impressive career in the insurance industry. He served in several senior positions over the past twenty years including Vice President Marketing, Life of Barbados Limited; Vice President, Barbados Operations, and Executive Vice President and General Manager of a major Caribbean insurance company and its subsidiaries. His most recent appointment was Chief Executive Officer of Kensington Oval Management Inc (KOMI).
A qualified insurance professional, Henry is a Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association Leadership Institute Fellow (LLIF) and Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI). He holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the Inter American University at San German, Puerto Rico and a BSc. in Business Administration (Finance) from the University of Puerto Rico.
Throughout his professional life, Henry has found time for sports and continues to play cricket for Greens Cricket Club. Henry has three children, is a member of the Barbados Shotokan Karate Club and is the holder of a second degree black belt.
Vice President, Human Resource Development
Glenda joined the ICBL on January 15th, 2013 as Vice-President, Human Resource Development. She has more than 25 years of experience in human resources leadership roles across the financial, insurance, telecommunications, tourism and manufacturing sectors. During her career, she has participated in several mentorship and coaching partnerships and led executive teams both regionally and internationally. This allowed her to be exposed to different cultures and work practices.
In addition, Glenda has extensive experience in change management, strategic planning, human resources planning and labour relations and is a skilled negotiator. She is a strategic thinker and resourceful problem-solver who is pro-active and results oriented. Glenda also possesses excellent interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills necessary to recruit, train and influence the motivation of staff to reach their full potential.
She has served on the Board of Directors of two statutory Corporations as Chairman of the Human Resource Committees and she is a member of the Human Resource Management Association of Barbados (HRMAB).
Glenda holds an Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) majoring in Human Resources Management and a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management from the University of the West Indies.
Glenda is responsible all aspects of human resources including talent development, employee engagement, labour relations, compensation and benefits. She will also be in charge of ensuring that our programs fully support the new strategic direction of ICBL to include maintaining the highest standards for attracting, retaining and developing talented professionals across our operations and the transformation of ICBL staff into a high performance team.
Vice President Claims & Enterprise Risk Management
Before joining the ICBL, Rawle was a Police Officer for more than 11 years. He was employed on March 1, 2002, as Risk Management Officer and assumed responsibility for developing the Company's Risk Management Programme. In 2009, he was appointed to the post of Claims Manager. In his current role as Vice President, Operations and Customer Service, he has responsibility for the Claims Department of the General Division and Enterprise Risk Management.
Rawle is the holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics & Accounting from the UWI Cave Hill Campus and a Master of Science degree in Risk Management from the University of Southampton, UK. He completed the Advanced Alternative Dispute Resolution Certificate Workshop conducted by the Stitt Feld Handy Group in association with the University of Windsor Law School. He is currently completing the insurance designation, Advance Diploma Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of which he is currently a certificate holder. Rawle is a part-time tutor in Management with the Insurance Institute of Barbados (IIB).
Rawle is married, has three children and likes all aspects of sport especially basketball, football and cricket. He also has a love for gardening.
Assistant Vice President, Reinsurance
Yvette is the Assistant Vice-President, Reinsurance of the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Limited. Her previous roles included Manager - Reinsurance Department, Manager - Personal Lines Department and Manager - Commercial Lines Department. She joined the insurance industry in 1981 as a Motor Underwriter, and then became a Property Underwriter and subsequently served as Assistant Manger in both the Motor and Property Departments.
Yvette tutors on a part-time basis with the Insurance Institute of Barbados (IIB). She has attended various local and overseas training courses and conferences, having received her management training at the London Guildhall University (London Metropolitan University). She is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) UK and a Chartered Insurer.
Her interests include teaching, sea bathing and lawn tennis.
Assistant Vice President - Technology & Business Solutions
Carl joined the Insurance Corporation of Barbados Limited in January 2012. Prior to this he was employed as Senior Project Officer at a regional bank where he managed large IT implementations across multiple jurisdictions.
He graduated from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. He also received his Master of Science Degree from the same university in Project Management and Evaluation.
